Bone whitlockite exists in the collagen matrix along with hydroxyapatite and plays a vital role during earlier stages of bone development.

Whitlockite contains magnesium at calcium ion positions, and phosphate on a threefold axis in a rhombohedral crystal lattice. Its biocompatibility, functionality, negative surface charge, mechanical strength, and stability in physiological solvents make it an ideal bone substitute as compared to hydroxyapatite and β-TCP(tricalcium phosphate).

We have the technology to manufacture whitlockite for dental/orthopedic use, and when combining our whitlockite with the Activin-BMP chimeric protein for which we hold exclusive licensing rights, we have confirmed that the bone regeneration capacity is 3 to 5 times higher than that of existing bone graft materials.
